Prompt library

Prompts that work, ready to paste.

Fill in the blanks, copy, or open straight in Claude or ChatGPT. Each prompt explains why it is worded the way it is, so you can adapt it to your own work.

Find Why a Test Fails

Give the failing test, the code under test and the output. The prompt asks whether the code or the test is wrong before changing anything.

Find Why Code Is Slow

A prompt for slow functions and queries: the model ranks likely bottlenecks, says how to measure each, and only then suggests a fix.

3 · Your prompt

You are a senior Python 3.12 developer. I get this error:

```
KeyError: 'email'
```

What I expected: the user's email is saved.

Explain the most likely cause, give the smallest fix as a diff, and tell me how to confirm it. Ask if you need more context.

Answer as numbered steps.

Give the real context

Paste the error, the code, the data sample or the document. A model can only use what you give it, and vague input gets a generic answer.

Say what a good answer looks like

Ask for a format: steps, a diff, a table, under 100 words. It is the fastest way to get something you can use without editing.

Ask it to check before guessing

“Ask me if you need more context” and “mark anything you are unsure about” make made-up details much less likely.

Keep secrets out

Remove passwords, API keys and personal data from anything you paste into an AI tool. These prompts run in your browser; nothing is sent to this site.
